Highly Anticipated Movie ‘Hamnet’ Starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal Hits Cinemas This November

Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao’s adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s bestselling novel, Hamnet, is set to begin its theatrical run in the United States this November, promising a profound and emotionally devastating cinematic experience.
The film, which has garnered raves following its appearances at major festivals like Telluride and the BFI London Film Festival, offers a fictionalized, intimate look at the tragic personal life of William Shakespeare, exploring the death of his 11-year-old son, Hamnet, and how that shattering loss may have inspired the creation of his iconic play, Hamlet. The cast is led by two of today’s most acclaimed actors: Jessie Buckley as Shakespeare’s wife, Agnes Hathaway (Anne Hathaway), who critics have hailed as an early front-runner for the Best Actress Oscar, and Paul Mescal as the struggling young playwright. Director Zhao, known for her Oscar-winning work on Nomadland, masterfully co-wrote the screenplay with author O’Farrell, delivering a production praised for its stunning, naturalistic cinematography by Łukasz Żal and its powerful final act that has left festival audiences in tears. Hamnet will have a limited release in the US beginning on November 26, 2025, before expanding nationwide on December 12, 2025. UK and Irish audiences can expect the drama to arrive in cinemas on January 9, 2026.
